MCN 2011 Conference Tours

This year, tours are being offered on the Tuesday before the conference starts, so that you can sign up for any of the great workshops that are on Wednesday.  Why not head out to Atlanta a day early to relax and explore?

Zoo Atlanta

Take a behind-the –scenes tour of Zoo Atlanta to get a glimpse of the inner-workings of a world class Zoo known for their giant pandas and world-famous gorilla exhibits. Hear about Zoo Atlanta’s contribution to conservation and captive breeding success. Get a chance to talk to staff about how technology plays a role in their daily work.

Please note: this tour is earlier than the others being offered, it is timed with the animals feeding schedule. Meet up time to be announced.

High Museum of Art Tour

Julia Forbes Head of Museum Interpretation, will provide a highlights tour of the High Museum of Art. The High’s collections consist of more than 12,000 pieces and include 19th and 20th century American and decorative art, significant European pieces, modern and contemporary art, photography, African art and folk art. Also on view is Picasso to Warhol: Fourteen Modern Masters, for which the museum developed their mobile app ArtClix. For participants who have an iphone, ipad, or Android, we encourage you to download ArtClix free of charge from the App store or Android Market and tour this exhibition. Following the tour, staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Coca-Cola Archives Tour

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of one of the premier corporate archives in the United States. The tour will allow participants a unique opportunity to visit the highly restricted Archives Storage Area where thousands of rare advertising and marketing artifacts are housed. Staff archivists will lead the tour and provide commentary about the collection. Read more about Phil Mooney, Director of the Archives.
