Social Media SIG shares a number of ways to collaborate

By Jonathan Munar and Emily Haight, Social Media SIG Co-Chairs

Like many of our colleagues from all corners of our institutions, the power of community has helped social media professionals remain motivated and inspired—always, and especially during these times. Despite the increased dependence on our professions (and the extra hours to match), we remain strong and committed to best representing our organizations with the support of—and in collaboration with—our peers and colleagues.

This month, we proudly extend an invitation to join our community for two hashtag initiatives:

  1. Join us on Wednesday, June 3, at 11:00 a.m. ET for #MuseumPrideParade. Showcase LGBTQIA+ stories and objects from your collection or rainbows in solidarity. Tag other museums that you are marching with virtually. Registration is now open.
  1. For the first time, the NYC-based #MuseumInstaSwap is going international. Institutions from around the world are invited to pair up for this single-day event, taking place on Wednesday, June 17. Registration is now open.

Congratulate your colleagues at your organization and others on work that they’ve done during the pandemic. Any great work—from something as small as a single, thoughtful Instagram post to something as large as a digital resource portal or a video series—deserves recognition. Nominate a colleague in this quick Google form here.
