By Tricia Robson, Chair, Strategy Special Interest Group
The Strategy SIG is dedicated to big picture strategic topics that impact organizations and the museum sector at large—topics such as change leadership, strategic planning, leadership development, digital transformation, working methodologies, and more. As museums undergo great change and redefinition, the group seeks to focus on the “why” of museums and museum initiatives. This question is more important than ever as museums and nonprofit institutions around the country and world will likely face a “new normal” after the unprecedented financial, strategic, and logistical challenges as a result of the coronavirus spread.
Thus far this year, we have hosted monthly webinars now available on MCN’s YouTube channel:
Agile Leadership
with Meaghan Tongen, Minneapolis Institute of Art
Digital Strategy: From Vision to Implementation
Sarah Jencks and Liza Lorenz, Ford’s Theatre
GLAMs’ Strategy
Neal Stimler, Balboa Park Online Collaborative
Feel free to watch the above sessions and join us for our next webinar on April 22 on Institutional Strategy and the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) with Jeffrey Campbell, Interim Director of Community Applications for Yale University ITS, and Rob Lancefield, Head of Information Technology at the Yale Center for British Art. Participation details are shared with SIG members, and SIG membership is currently open for all during the COVID-19 crisis.
